Ruffnecks Fall Overview:
First Weekend After Labor Day (Sept. 9-10) to End October

Link to Registration Form

Ruffnecks Fall Baseball is intended to provide developmental and competitive baseball that is compatible with most student-athlete’s fall schedules.  Players from 13U to 18U can participate with flexible scheduling (though the 13U schedule is fixed to Sunday mornings).  High School Wood Bat and College Prep players have some options for playing on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday on a week to week basis.  We cannot always accommodate all requests. Players may also play multiple days (based on availability), or play one day per weekend.  Team rosters are shuffled and posted every week.  Each of the Fall Baseball program offerings feature different objectives.  Details about the respective programs follow below.  There are three Ruffnecks Fall programs:

  • 13U Fall Baseball: Sundays Only
  • College Prep Ruffnecks (Friday – Sunday)
  • HS Wood Bat Ruffnecks (Friday – Sunday)

13U Fall Ruffnecks Program: 6 Weeks (Begins Sunday, Sept. 10)

(August 15, 2017 -Important Message) August Workout Day for 13U Ruffnecks Candidates Will NOT be held.

After careful consideration, we will not hold a workout date in August.  We continue to present our program to prospective players and families through the 13U Fall Baseball program run on Sundays from September to late October.  We appreciate that many families have plans in August.  Players continue to play in Cooperstown events that wrap up their 12U experience in an exciting and fun fashion.  Late August presents many conflicts and there too many inequities inherent in the process.  This is why the Ruffnecks program has resisted “tryouts” in a traditional manner.  There is no perfect way to build a roster, make considerations, and accommodate all the variables in the baseball lives of 13 year olds and their families.  We appreciate the decisions families need to make with regard to other, very fine, baseball programs for the 13U year.  The Ruffnecks process requires patience.  Our intent is to provide a solid introduction and a two-way evaluation opportunity for those who aspire to the Ruffnecks program.  We thank you for understanding our position.

New 13s Assemble Opening Day

The 13U Ruffnecks is the entry point to the Ruffnecks program.  The 13U Ruffnecks Fall Program is for rising 13U players… players who have just completed their final spring and summer on the small diamond. While the 13U Fall Program serves as a selection mechanism, it is most definitely NOT designed as a tryout.  Our 13U Fall Baseball Program is a high energy, instructive, developmental program.  It is designed to teach and usher players along the transitional path to baseball on the big diamond. Our six to seven week program is detailed, with a clear curriculum.  It is a stand alone program, regardless of whether or not a player intends to be a candidate for the Ruffnecks 2018 13U team.

This program has limited capacity.  It is one of the most highly regarded developmental programs in the region.  Registrations fill quickly.

The curriculum for 13U Fall Baseball is designed entirely around the fundamental principles for baseball on the full sized diamond.  Even 13U players with some experience on the big diamond will find 13U Ruffnecks Fall Baseball a challenging and valuable developmental opportunity.  Drills, positional work, simulated game situations, and actual game scrimmages comprise the curriculum.

Weekly Schedule

  • Location: NEBC in Northborough, MA
  • Sundays Only
  • 8:00am to 10:30
  • No activity Columbus Day Weekend

The Ruffnecks program does not field teams younger than 13U.  The team selection process is deliberate.  There are no tryouts to gain admission to Fall Baseball.  We simply ask aspiring candidates to participate in what we do, what we teach, and how we go about things, even if they are unable to attend every session.

Cost: $400

High School Wood Bat Program:

(July 2017- HS Wood Bat Fall Baseball registrations now open)

The Ruffnecks Fall High School Wood Bat program provides an opportunity for players to participate in a mix of intrasquad games and NEBC Fall League contests.  Rosters are assembled to number approximately 12-13 players, with plans for pitching.  Rosters are shuffled each week.  The High School Wood Bat program offers scheduling flexibility.  Each week there are multiple playing opportunities in the schedule, offered from Friday through Sunday.  Players are asked to respond to a weekly “Roll Call” from which we assemble rosters based on availability, positional needs, and numbers.  The High School Wood Bat Program features limited skill sessions and drill work.  Nevertheless, it is an instructive, developmental program designed in the relaxed atmosphere of Fall Baseball.

The Ruffnecks High School Wood Bat Program is for players 14U and up who have not had high school varsity experience.  8th graders who have played on the full sized diamond for at least a year are eligible.

Cost: $400

College Prep Program:

(July 2017- College Prep Fall Baseball Registrations now being accepted)

The Ruffnecks College Prep program is a play-only mix of intrasquad games and NEBC Fall League contests.  In 2017 we will mix in several developmental, “showcase-style” workouts designed to prep players for college camps and other recruiting opportunities.

Weekly Rosters are assembled to number approximately 12-13 players, with plans for pitching.  Rosters are shuffled each week.  The College Prep program offers scheduling flexibility.  Each week there are between three and six playing opportunities offered from Friday through Sunday.  Players are asked to respond to a weekly “Roll Call” from which we assemble rosters based on availability.  Ruffnecks coaches staff the College Prep program.  They provide in-game instruction and development through game situations and positional playing opportunities.  The College prep program provides a relaxed atmosphere for Fall Baseball participation.

The College Prep program is recommended for players with some high school varsity-level playing experience.  Players who project to be high school varsity players during the upcoming season are also welcome to register for this offering.

Cost: $400

Ft. Myers Trip to Perfect Game WWBA Underclass Championship: Oct. 5-9

We are considering an entry to the PG WWBA Underclass World Championship over Columbus Day Weekend.  Participation in the event is by selection only.  Players may inquire and express their interest.  There will be an additional cost associated with participation, approximately $1,000.  Air fare and air arrangements are the responsibility of the individual and the family.  Hotel will be provided by the Ruffnecks organization at the expense of the organization.
