Take the Field!

Base Running

13U and 14U Ruffnecks took to Field #3 at the NEBC on Sunday, March 11th for a spirited two and a half hour workout.  The sun was warm (relatively), despite a backdrop of snow beyond the fences.  Much was accomplished with both teams running drills and practicing situations.  The 14U Ruffnecks led the way, setting the tempo and providing leadership.  At the same time the Ruffnecks practiced, the University of Massachusetts and Central Connecticut faced off in a Division I college baseball game on Field #1.  Several of the Ruffnecks stayed to watch the end of the game.

After a winter of productive indoor hitting sessions, and team practices in the expansive confines of the Harvard University “Bubble,” it was great to get outside at the complex.  Fly balls, full field drills, and the opportunity to play ball outdoors provided an exhilarating and instructive session.  Preparation continues outside (weather permitting). The asset of the NEBC and its dedicated staff that clears and preps the fields is a privilege for which we are all grateful.  Opening day is right around the corner for the 13s and the 14s in New Jersey, March 23-25.
