13U & 14U Squads Win Championships

13s Take NEBA Title in Troy, NY

Harrison Milbert hurls for 13's

The 13U Ruffnecks were first to take home a tournament championship in 2017 with a convincing 3-0 record at the 13U NEBA Championships in Troy, NY.  The 13s had their work cut out for them in the very first pool play game.  They battled the South Troy Dodgers in a 10 inning 7-6 victory.  Scooter Beverly pitched well in relief and had the walk off hit for the winning ‘Necks.  The weekend had its share of fine moments.  John Tully pitched brilliantly in the 8-3 championship game win.  Thomas Dillon, Colby Jacobs, and Rodrigo Ramirez led the squad in hitting during the event.  Aidan Kelley caught all the innings behind the plate.  Outfield play was stellar behind Jack Toomey, Harrison Milbert, James O’Connell, and Beverly.  The infield was solid with Carson Walsh, Matt Henshon, and Anthony Pellagrini manning the middle.  Thomas Dillon, Colby Jacobs, Jeffrey Valdez and Josh Mirob handled the corners. Mirob, Austin Giarnese, Dillon, Milbert, Beverly, and O’Connell handled the pitching duties.  It was a satisfying weekend for the youngest Ruffnecks as they start tournament season.

14U Ruffnecks Capture May Classic at NEBC

The 14U Ruffnecks rumbled through the May Classic at the New England Baseball Complex with their first championship of the 2017 campaign.  The squad went 3-0 in Pool Play while surrendering only 7 runs.  They earned the second seed in the playoff round.  In the semi-final the Ruffnecks dominated with a 9-1 win.  The championship took a hardened 4-2 effort in the fifth game of the two-day event.  In fact it was the third game on Sunday… a day that began with an 8:00am game and ended shortly after 9:30pm.  More details to follow from the event.

Summer is just about upon us.  Memorial Day weekend finds both the 13U and 14u Ruffnecks in tournament activity agian.  The 13s play in the PG Super25 at the NEBC.  The 14s travel to Connecticut to play in the Super East Memorial Day Classic.  Once June arrives, the older Ruffnecks head to Battle at the Border in Stamford, CT for the opening event of the season.  The Ruffnecks assemble a combined roster of 2018, 2019, and 2020 grads to attend Battle at the Border. The June 2-3 dates find many Ruffnecks still very much involved in their high school seasons.  Summer is almost here, with plenty of Ruffnecks action to come!
